Cadillac will finally put the CTS-V coupe where it belongs: on a race track. Strangely, its hottest competition may be a Volvo.

Cadillac says it will campaign two CTS-V Coupe teams in the Sports Car Club of America's World Challenge GT class, with prep done by Pratt & Miller. Caddy won the same events in 2005 and 2007, and one of the drivers then, Andy Pilgrim, will handle the duties at the first race in March in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Last season's title was won by a Volvo S60, which bested teams in Dodge Vipers and Porsche 911s. It's nice to see the crest on the tracks, but it's hard to make a claim of world-class performance unless there's a few more contenders — especially a few more German makes — in the rearview mirror.
