At 235 ft long, the Bullet 580 airship is the world's largest airship and capable of cruising 20,000 feet in the air at 80 MPH while carrying a 2,000-pound payload. It also looks like a giant inflatable dong.
The Bullet 580 is so large the creators had to go to the Garret Coliseum in Alabama for its maiden takeoff. It took five hours to fill with helium.
The inventors hope the vehicle can be used for missions needing a vehicle that can safely hover in one spot for long periods of time, which neither satellites nor helicopters can do. The biggest trick this helium-filled balloon has is the super thin Kevlar envelope, which is ten times stronger than steel but only one-sixteenth of an inch thick... that's what she said.
