Building a Budget Beater

Rod and Custom magazine had a brainstorm: Produce a series of articles on how to build an old-school hot rod for $10,000. We think that's a fine idea, one that someday we might even consider attempting. Unfortunately, the site offers no good way to toggle between the installments, so we've taken care of that. Now all we need is some initiative, and skills. Here are the first five:
