A pedestrian bridge collapsed this morning on the Southfield Freeway near the Detroit-Dearborn border, killing a truck driver. The state's transportation department is investigating, but says it's "not due to a structural issue." (UPDATE: A truck hit the overpass; that driver was the one killed.)

It happened early this morning near the Joy Road overpass. At least one other driver was injured, according to reports. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, spotted walking around the freeway, was among several drivers who narrowly avoided being crushed. (The Lions' training facility is a few miles down the freeway.)

The Michigan Department of Transportation says it is getting crews to remove the bridge, but there's no estimate on cleanup times.
