BMW's mild cosmetic freshening of the Z4 roadster for 2007 may not calm the ire of Bangle haters — "flame surfacing" is still in full effect — and it's done nothing to dial back the car's divisive robotic-shark appearance. Still, no one was expecting that kind of radicalism to occur mid-cycle, so we're not exactly surprised. It's the new M version — set to appear at the Detroit show in early '06 that's colored us impressed, what with the 3.2-liter inline six from the current M3 getting involved, and with the Euro versions getting a few new engines there's hope of the stateside model as well. At this rate, the Z4 may just yet become a real sports car.
