BMW to Bring Back the M Coupe

Rumor has it BMW is working up a new hardtop variant of its Z4 roadster to challenge Porsche's Cayman (and possibly Mercedes's rumored SLT?) in the seemingly expanding track-day coupe segment. The new model will likely be similar in scope, if not design, to the much maligned (by everyone who never coaxed one through a hairpin turn at 75mph) M Coupe, which was dropped when BMW introduced the Z4 roadster. Rumors give the top-line M Coupe a 333hp 3.2-liter inline six, with a 265hp 3.0-liter six as the standard powerplant. The new coupe would likely follow after a freshened Z4 roadster, expected this fall.
