Engineers at NexxtDrive say they're ready to roll out their SuperGen i-Hybrid unit, which combines a hybrid-drive kit with a manner of blower (sorry, "advanced pressure boosting technology"). They say the system will crank 170 hp out of a low-emissions 1.4-liter gas engine. The unit includes a compressor, two electric motor-generators and a gearing system that can adjust compressor speed from zero to up to 150 times crank rotation. Up to 14kW of electrical energy can be allocated to either direct torque assistance or boosting pressure to improve torque output from the engine. It's all controlled algorithmically, natch. Dyno testing to follow.
