Forget the tacked-together aftermarket garbage, Land Rover has just confirmed they're introducing a new Range Rover Sport variant with "More performance [added] to the mix. A lot more." Truck SUV YEAH!

Ass-hauling SUVs have been around for awhile. The GMC Typhoon, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and SRT, BMW X5 M, and of course Mercedes's AMG G, ML, and GL come to mind as silly-but-awesome vehicles with an identity crisis. So I've always found it a little surprising (and disappointing) that Land Rover, arguably the king of over-the-top-SUVs, has stayed on the sidelines of this freakshow segment.

Well it looks like somebody got ahold of my dream journal, because Land Rover is trotting out a killer Range Rover Sport at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, apparently running the SUV at the hillclimb event on June 26–29.

The Range Rover Sport is properly quick as it stands, and if rumors that this special variant will get the 550 horsepower supercharged V8 straight from the Jaguar XKR-S are true, the Dutchess of Cambridge better hold on to her silly hat 'cause this thing's about to blow it off.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate that the performance-oriented Range Rover will also have some suspension stiffening, giant brakes, a decorated interior, and an "RS" moniker. I also doubt you'll be able to fit winter or off-road tires on its factor wheels.
