I could only be considered a fledgling Guzzisti at best, but I believe this is referred to as the Small Block frame. The Tonti has an inverted triangle of tubing on each side that extend down from the top tubes and bolt to the back of the engine/swingarm pivot. Somebody should probably confirm that, though. EXACTLY. Thats why I liked the Honda RC-E concept so much... the frame and layout is made with the electric bike in mind...
notice the motor here matches the swingarm pivot and works with the frame

Apparently this came about as a project by students of the Technical University of Munich, and consists of BMW’s electric scooter powertrain repackaged to fit the frame and fairing of the S1000RR.
