I got hit head on a few months back by an oncoming Minivan which banged a left, no directional, about three feet in front of me. Went right over the hood, up the windshield, and had a fun meeting with the asphalt on the other side.
The helmet got lost with the police and I was too shaken to get a pic, but it was very…
Cue the road pirate rage. I’m sure they are quite butt-hurt by the truthful, yet derisive comment about their favored skid lid type helmet. With no helmet laws here in New Mexico, it’s rare to see a Harley rider with any helmet at all. Leather vests are all the safety gear that's needed on a Harley. Read more

Dan Gurney wearing an F1 helmet. Not a motorcycle helmet. PS- Good write-up. I hated shopping for a helmet because the ones that fit ended up being very pricey. Long-oval/long-faced helmets are rare.
Good article, but have some niggles about the visor advice. Wes states that changing the visor takes 5 seconds. The Icon Alliance—that I bought at Wes’s suggestion—takes, much, much longer and it’s a clumsy and annoying process to boot.
I have to wear glasses anyway, so my solution is wear transitional lenses. The… Read more

I very frequently use front brakes only on my 2006 Kawasaki Concours and never have come close to brake fade. Any bike that can’t stop from 60 mph 3 times with just the front brakes is not a bike for me. My 2014 Concours has linked brakes so I can’t use just the fronts. By the way the 2006 has 150,000 mile on it with… Read more
If you don’t use your front brakes more than your rear, you’re doing it wrong. As the article states, about 80 per cent of your braking is done through the front wheel. Ever wonder why GP riders and other racers come into corners with the rear wheel wagging off the road?? Read more
completely irrelevant to this article, but you’re one of the most active journalists on here so i hope to hear back from ya. I’m a car enthusiast that got to ride on the back of my father’s bike as a kid. it was an awesome feeling but that’s been the extent of my motorcycle experience. lately ive been thinking about… Read more

Yikes. Motorrad is pretty serious about testing and it’s very standardized and well-set up. Even the ADAC quotes them. They can kill sales in the EU with a strongly negative review, and for sure the insurers will look at this when crashes occur. Double yikes. Read more
They’ve made much ado about their new modular liner system for this helmet (each shell size has three different sets of liner pieces that can be separately ordered and popped in mix-and-match), but I’m skeptical as to how variable internal head shape really gets with this system. Could you get your hands on some…
