Those logo projector style puddle lamps are overrated. The shape and intense contrast of the projected image can distract from, or even obscure, whatever might be on the ground that you need to see in the first place. Can’t we just have plain lights so that we can more easily identify what we’re about to step on? Read more

The good news is, at least it’s not cutting out the middleman and spitting those cigarettes directly onto the side of the road. Last thing we need is a Robot-Litter. Read more

Alphanumeric model names suck anyway. “XT” works much better as a trim level/package. Read more

Slowing/stopping is certainly my first instinct when I see reverse lamps. Which is why it frustrates me to no end to see vehicles (especially GM ones) using those lamps for convenience illumination. Read more

Not sure how it works in the strictly legal sense, but most parking lots do follow certain design rules that automatically lend any experienced driver a good sense of how right-of-way is supposed to work there. Lesser aisles are easily distinguishable from the main aisles that they tee into. It’s no great leap of Read more

Counterpoint: New Sports eXperience was always too vague of a definition to serve as the MODEL NAME of a car. And turning it into an acronym just makes it worse. It’s a hell of a good car, but NSX was never a good name for it. Read more

I agree; they’re tractors. Their primary purpose is towing/pulling, and that’s what sets it apart from the pickup truck, whose bed is primarily for hauling. It’s kind of hard to get used to, as I’m so used to thinking of tractors strictly as farm implements. But tractor really does make the most logical sense. Thank Read more

My first car was a Suburban, and I remember being a little offended when I got my license plate for it and the registration called it a “station wagon”. But you know what? They were right. Read more

There’s a lot more to parking strategy than distance. I’ll change my approach from lot to lot, which could have angled or perpendicular parking, one-way or two-way aisles, one open area or a parking garage with multiple floors, combined or separate store entrance/exits, etc... But for the most part, I go out of my way Read more

On a related note, “A Link to the Past” never really made sense as the game’s English title. They should have left it as The Triforce of the Gods”. Read more

Now that you mention it... I guess I never really thought about it before, but summing the game up as “it was all a dream” is only partially true. Because Koholint wasn’t Link’s dream; it was the Wind Fish’s dream. Which means that the Wind Fish is a real, canonical character in the Legend of Zelda series, not to be Read more

That’s a good question. Thank you for wording your post the way you did. I don’t think it’s inappropriate. The topic deserves some thoughtful debate and you’ve already got some really good points supporting both sides there. I’m having a hard time making up my mind! Read more

Throwing the word “safety” around isn’t going to get us anywhere. We have to be more specific. There are things that make cars safer to crash, and there are things that make cars safer to drive. Even emissions technology is a form of (public) safety. Trump’s sweeping generalizations aren’t helping. Read more
