I stil think this was about the most interesting car related story in the last little while. Read more

I worked at a VW dealership, sales and financing, from the mid70's until 1984. Our new car sales/training/product knowledge for many of the new cars and functions looked a lot like that Vinyl and filmstrip combo. It wasn't until about 1980 that they got cassettes Read more

I saw an R8 and 2 A5 coupes in the local outlet mall parking garage about a month ago. The 2 coupes were black and the R8 was that horrible Kia blue, and of course I didn't even have a camera phone with me. Read more

You're going to get all of the Demolition Derby guys all hot and bothered with this one. There's nary a mid 70's GM car left out there to run in the derbies all over the midwest so now they are going all over the country looking for iron like this! Read more

The car I learned to drive on,(not counting the high school Ford Galaxie)—a 1960 Chrysler Newport, pale green, pushbutton transmission. I don't think I even have a picture of it but can still picture it. Read more

Nice to see they haven't forgotten the portholes. Buick's without them were just faux-buicks. Read more

After having a bottle of bleach based cleaner spill on my OEM floor mat(black became light grey) I shopped all over the internets and ended up buying a new set of carpet mats from GG Bailey. No trim, no stitching, no logos. They were not cheap but are great quality and made to fit my car. I can't imagine using PMRide Read more

I worked at a VW Dealership for nearly 10 years in the 70's, early 80's and had really forgotten this car, although we didn't see many of them. There was a guy who brought one of these back from Germany from his Army days and he kept it really in good condition and loved to come to the service department and talk to Read more

I was working for a VW dealership, sales and financing, when the VW truck was introduced. It was never really called a Rabbit Truck, although Rabbitamino would have been a great name; just a VW truck. They sold like crazy at first, until people realized that they really couldn't carry much, weight-wise or people-wise. Read more

Is there any car from the 80's that has aged less well than the Camaro, be it Berlinetta or Z28 et.al? Read more

I used to think that a remake of Bullitt would be pretty cool, sometime in the days before Nicolas Cage became an action movie star. It would turn out like the steaming pile of *(@#$& that is his version of "Gone in 60 seconds". Read more

I was at the local mall last week, and as I got out of the car, I saw 2 Audi A5's (both black with AZ plates) and an R8 (Hyundai blue with AZ) plates driving up the parking ramp. I had no camera with me but they looked liked production type models. Read more

My ex-wife's "rich" uncle, who I only met about twice in my married days, bought a Cimarron. He drove from Idaho to impress the relatives at a family reunion one year. (1984?) I don't know if it was a D'Oro model but it was black and it had a 4-speed!!! Another good idea. Read more

I wish for a world where the name Paris Holiday Inn is not uttered, either in print, by the "news" media or anywhere on the internets! Read more
