haha it’s not really that complicated, unlike the English language, we actually pronounce as we write, so “c” is always “tz”, “k” is always “k”, and letters c, s and z with a squiggly line above it are always pronounced ch, sh and zh. Oh, and it’s not rimac like “rymatz”, but “reematz”. This has been your crash course Read more

Mate Rimac’s recent Stanford talk is really worth a watch.

Never really paid much attention to them (must’ve been the vaporware article...) but it has to be said, that is seriously impressive!

Wow. I really dig these guys. Check out their wheelchair mod, it is the best edition of “Pimp My Ride” ever! Seriously, 60km range on a powerchair?!?! That’s amazing, and potentially life-changing. Bravo, guys!

I ran a rally once with a college friend in a Lotus 7 back in ‘70. We were standing at opposite ends of the car when we both noticed someone starting to sit on the fender wing. I tackled him high and the owner tackled him low, putting him on his butt instead of the fender. The only weak spot on the car.

Maybe I don’t understand the minds of luxury car buyers, but I really think that when fully-driverless cars become the norm, they will become commoditized transport pods and companies will compete on solely on technology, comfort, and reliability. Things like performance and driving dynamics no longer matter since no Read more

I think it is great that BMW wants to develop new powertrain systems without leaving combustion behind. Hybrid systems are great because of their versatility which could lead to sustainable resource use. Automation can be useful too, if you are too busy to pick up your friend or maybe you’ve had one to many beverages Read more

And of course MB never mentioned the car that obviously inspired it:

While the Twin Study remained a one-off, Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard had their fun with the concept...

It’s all about perception. WEC is great, the cars are hugely complex and different, and the racing is fierce over every lap regardless of the race distance. The Audi makes virtually no noise but it’s incredible to watch through the Porsche curves at LM. The latest F1 cars are also hugely complex and make reasonable Read more

My Eagle E type 4.2 Coupe 1965 was hand built to my spec by Eagle using any of their options list which added handling, torsional stiffness, braking efficiency and lightness where possible. It looks immense. I like old cars but I still want to use them with trust and confidence at speed, and so an Eagle is perfect for Read more

I’m a petrol head and so I like anything to do with cars, bikes and aviation. Top Gear is fun but it’s an entertainment show rather than a car show in my view. I would never buy a car based on what is said on those shows for that reason. Those three guys do a great job and it will be fun seeing who comes out on top Read more

I love F1, have done since my first race as a kid in 1964. I’ve now been involved closely for well over 30 years as a driver and commentator. It’s still great but there are many things which need changing to align with today’s sporting and media world. It needs a master plan for what the cars and events, (and Read more

It’s a great shame, LM24 seem to recently carve out some elbow space for its race weekend but in 2016 there’s a clash. The trouble is that with 21 F1 races they are difficult to squeeze in around good weather, public holidays, religious events, traditional dates, logistical challenges and so on. Read more

Hi Martin, Can you tell us a bit more more about the spec of your Eagle E Type? What is the best road trip you have done in it? Read more

I got on just fine with Mika. Peugeot did their best at the time with the engine but we had some major failures which dominated the year. It was not the right time to be at McLaren although it was still a privilege, but in any case if it was a championship winning car Alain Prost would have driven it... Read more

I have a 991 GT3 and I LOVE the PDK. I have owned a 991S with 7-speed manual, the ratios were stupid and 7 was fuel economy. I dont think I ever got past 5th even at fast tracks (160mph+ in 5th). I would have a difficult time ordering a 991.2 GT3 in manual. I know the 6 speed will be better than that 7, but still... Read more
