I can’t find the shot but I distinctly recall a version of this camo with whale barnacles all over the hood and the wheelarches.
My wife Natalie has a serious thing for the SLS AMG production prototype in dark gray with whale barnacles. She says if she ever becomes filthy rich, she’s going to order one in that exact shade of gray with the barnacles retrofitted on the hood. Read more

They renamed it i8 for the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and I remember it looking much more real than the 2009 version. Wonder how much of the Marzal-like glass cockpit will make it into the production version (if the camouflaged prototype is any hint, well, not much).

I think part of it is just crazy McLaren pricing but titanium is supposedly a bitch to work with (I had a chat about it with a jeweler who made our wedding rings from the stuff). Even Oakley (titanium alloy frames in the late ‘90s) and Apple (titanium PowerBooks ten years ago) didn’t work with the metal for too long. Read more
