Repair would be a huge problem for both of these cars. There’s a bad stretch of road for every mile of wonderfully maintained Argentinian switchback—and then there’s Bolivia. I think the best choice would actually be an IKA Torino race car. Locally made, cheap, fast, authentic.
It might be a slight detour but I’d have to include the stretch of road pictured above—between the Argentinian high desert towns of Purmamarca and Susques—in the itinerary:
