I don't think it could have been hijacked by anyone but the plane's own pilot(s). If it were someone breaking into the flight deck, the pilots would have called that in to ATC on the radio. I think the pilots did it. The question is really where they took / crashed it. Read more

Boeing has plenty of market share. Their backlog for the 737 is several years long, which is why they have to keep bumping up their production rates. The A320neo was announced quite a while before the 737 MAX, which at least partly accounts for why the neo has more orders. Read more
