Yeah but when was the last time you paid money to see a monster truck jam? I thought they did the events just so we have something to watch at 3am when we can't sleep. Read more

My second car, a 1992 BMW had the sunroof fail right before the warranty expired. The dealer fixed it but a few days later I found my car full of smoke from a small fire after letting the engine warm up for a few minutes before leaving. The fire shorted the power locks and locked all the doors. The sunroof was Read more

Only if they donate them which wouldn’t be any different than sponsoring the racing like they do currently. Selling them would earn cash they are currently throwing away Read more

I get the whole liability part but why can’t they at least sell or donate the engines to racers for off road use only? Require a racing license and a ton of paperwork letting the manufacturer off the hook. Oh the fun I would create by stuffing hellcat engines into tiny racecars. I think my first would be a RWD Mini Read more

A lot of towns have their own ordinances which are far worse. I’m forbidden from working on a car in public view. So I can’t touch a car in the driveway or work with garage doors open. The chicago tribune ran a story on my years back that showed me cutting up a 750il in the driveway and the town went nuts. Read more

The pit lane at the Monaco Grand Prix is probably my favorite of the historic motorsport places. Remember that trip I took in the Fiesta ST from the 24hrs of the Nuburgring to Monaco for F1? It turns out that a Jalopnik reader was following the adventure and found a way to sneak us into the pits. But by the time it

I had this “friend” that was 18 or so and his mom had an Acura Legend with the larger sport wheels and tires deal and the thing was fast for the early 90’s. North of Chicago were rapidly expanding subdivisions. In the wealthier neighborhoods these things looked like racetracks with big rolling hills and high speed Read more

Raphael, remember Empire State Performance Rally in like 2013? A bunch of guys were giving me grief about being an investment banker and that it would be easy to race if they had my cash and enclosed trailer, etc. So to show that racing can be cheap if you want it badly enough, I decided to drive the rally car from

Nice, France is a horrible place to drive. The alps north of the city are amazing and filled with Monte Carlo Rally Stages like the Col De Turini. But the city is miserable. I was there in 2012 to see the Monaco Grand Prix and got three tickets in like 5 minutes. There was a camera on the off ramp from the highway! Read more

I assume you have never spectated a rally? In fairness, the stage marshals are pretty good in the U.S. and do a good job of keeping the “spectator areas” safe. But in other countries? Over hundreds of miles of stages? Read more

Well said. And I dont Tucker blamed the series. I don’t think anyone really did. They just announced they were leaving. Also interesting is that IMSA hired PWC’s competition manager,Geoff Carter, to run the Tudor series manager this past January. http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/1195649-tud… Read more

I would LOVE to know the answer to this question. I think its simply that Tudor doesn’t provide enough of a return on their investment. Meaning their sponsors aren’t willing to renew. I have to think that’s what’s happening with Falken and happened to Dodge. Its hard to say with the more privately run teams. Read more

My understanding is that many teams have dropped out of Imsa Tudor. Dodge, Sahleen, Muscle Milk Pickett racing, level 5 motorsport, Turner, and Falken is leaving at the end of the year. I saw a story(can’t find the link now) saying the field was down 40% at the 6 hours of the Glenn from 2015 and it appears to getting Read more
