For a long time, up here in Canada Toyota likes to mix into its press photo selection a number of photographs that were taken locally. They can illustrate stories well, especially if the sight of the front license plate help establish that it’s a Canadian car shown.

Why can't the government just mandate the automaker runs a random sample of, say, 5-10 customer cars with tamper-proof Automatic devices (https://www.automatic.com/) that track fuel economy over a week or two of real-world testing? That would at least provide a range between best and worst case scenarios. Read more
