We're always saddened when a prospective supercar builder burns through his seed money without securing a spot in the field. They can't all be Noble or Mosler, we'd imagine, though Australia's Joss was one we thought had a chance. It had the specs: Zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds, 6.8-liter V8, ex-F1 propellerheads on staff, appearance on Project Gotham Racing for XBox, $500,000 price tag. According to Motor Authority, designer Matt Thomas says he's down, but not out. He's selling the SuperCar prototype for $180,000 to raise money — a fraction of the $2 million or so it cost to build — and heading to Europe to create a LeMans prorotype and look for new backers. Unfortunately, the prototype doesn't meet Australia's strict road-worthiness standards, and thus isn't street legal down under. Maybe the Wiggles can come down off their mountain of cash and take it off his hands for track-day runs between takes of "Fruit Salad."
