Ask NASCAR Driver And Jalopnik Columnist Parker Kligerman Anything

Today marks the return of How To Drive Fast with our newest recruit, NASCAR racer and all around good guy Parker Kligerman. Parker is around for next hour to answer your questions. Hop to it kiddos!

Parker just introduced himself in his first HTDF column, so I don't want to bore you with all the details. What I will say is that he knows what he's doing and he's one of us, a real gearhead with an irreverent sense of humor. That should work well. I'm looking forward to hearing a lot more from him in the coming weeks.

Okay, so you're walking down the street, and you hear a horrible screeching noise behind you. You turn around and there is a flock of bloodthirsty Pterodactyls bearing down on you, and the people around you. No, I don't know why. Yes, they look hungry.

Quickly scanning your surroundings, you spot several options for escape:

  • There's a school bus full of children. Their driver has run off in fear, so the kids have no driver. The vehicle is slow, and it almost certainly won't be able to outpace the pterodactyls, but if it does, you'll have saved a busfull of kids.
  • There's a sand rail idling on the side of the street. You don't know how much gas is in the tiny, exposed tank, and the bare tube chassis offers no protection from attacking extinct predators.
  • Surprisingly, a Ferrari F12 with a very drunk Burt Reynolds in the driver's seat pulls up next to you. He pops the passenger side door open and (in between hiccups) yells at you to come in. He's nowhere near fit to operate a moving vehicle, but he's handcuffed to the steering wheel, and he couldn't relinquish control of the Ferrari even if he wanted to. The car is fast enough to outrun the Pterodactyls, but you don't know how far Burt (is that throw up on his moustache?) could go before crashing.

Which of the three options do you take?
