According to the UK's AutoExpress, the next Prius could be somewhat of a runner. No, seriously. The magazine's sources say a turbocharged 1.8-liter gas engine is in the works, which along with more efficient lithium ion batteries for the electric motor, will boost the Prius's performance into, dare we say, the less-pokiness realm. Rumors continue that the next-gen model will also get twice the mileage of the current one, though we're skeptical that it'll be a function of Toyota caving to demand from some customers for a plug-in system to charge the batteries when the car's parked. Watch this space.
