Yep, it's Bethel, Alaska! With 70 taxis serving a population of 5,900, Bethel's 1:84 cab/resident ratio blows away New York City's miserable 1:149 figure. The reason? Bethel is inaccessible by road, so all vehicles must be flown or barged in; add to that the $5/gallon cost of gas and it just makes sense to call a cab. We just hope the drivers look out for moose.
