You saw the photo a few posts back showing the submerged gate at LaGuardia Airport. Well, air travel is going to be a complete mess this week. There have been more than 16,000 flights canceled thus far. The four New York Airports are closed, although JFK might reopen on Wednesday.
When one New York airport shuts down, it’s a huge pain for travelers, but to have all four closed (including Teterboro, where corporate jets fly) is going to cause a mess across the air system. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says there’s extensive damage at LGA, which is an important place for a lot of airlines.
Don’t forget that there also are high winds across the Midwest, especially in Detroit and Chicago. So if you do have to go somewhere, be patient. Or rethink whether your trip can wait.
