Adoption of In-Car Navigation Systems Trends Upward

Data released by NAVTEQ, a provider of digital map information for automotive nav systems, indicates adoption of in-car navigation continues its upward trend (full disclosure: we're guessing they're happy about this). From 18% of available vehicles (72) in 2002, nav systems were offerred as standard or optional equipment on 37% of vehicles (139) in 2004 — with availablity expanding from primarily luxury vehicles to less-expensive models. We wonder if really lame press relases, using pointless market-research findings, have had anything to do with such growth.
