A Road Crew In Quebec Put A Power Pole In The Middle Of The Road

This has to be the most ridiculous example of work crew autonomy gone wrong we've ever seen.

Ever.

Who are these workers, and how much lead paint did they eat as children. Even with a reflector on it, it looks like it was intended to weed distracted drivers out of the gene pool.

It's not even really in the middle of the road. Even though this road is probably a low-speed route that probably doesn't get a lot of truck traffic, the pole looks like it could easily snag someone's rear bumper or a lawn equipment trailer or something. This is so dumb, we'll have to assume the pole is a subtle expression of rage against distracted drivers, rear bumpers, and lawn equipment trailers.

We're not sure how things work in Canada, but in the U.S. of A., this would have a crowd of sign-bearing angry mothers clamoring around it within hours. Hydro-Quebec, the power company ultimately responsible for placing the pole, said it would move it by the end of the week. Let's hope nobody gets killed before then. (Hat tip to $kaycog!)

UPDATE - Nov. 20, 4:15 p.m.: Great news: The pole has been removed. No word yet on whether or not bloodflow has been restored to the brain of whoever was in charge of the pole-setting work crew.
