Last night, a student at Fairfield University in Connecticut was involved in some sort of accident that caused his Chevy Tahoe to catch fire.
When he was trying to escape the crash, he caught on fire. In order to save his own skin, he ran onto a baseball field during a little league game so that someone would put him out. They did.
Details are scarce on the accident itself. Apparently, bystanders heard a popping sound and looked over to see an SUV on fire. There is no official reason why the fire started either, and officials have said they have "a lot more unanswered questions than answers" at this point.
The man in the truck, who has been identified as an 18-22 year old male student of Fairfield University, ran out of the truck and onto the baseball field, where a little league game was occurring. Quick and brave action by a parent and coach on the baseball field prevented certain fiery death for the student.
He survived, but still suffered severe burns covering most of his body. His name has not yet been released and he's currently in critical condition at Bridgeport Hospital.
