The way you build a hot rod, so we’re told, is nothing but a couple months of grunting and beer drinking and then a T-Bucket magically materializes in your garage. What’s the reality?

Everyone knows about the big shops and the big builds, but there is such a huge number of ordinary people messing around with rusty old heaps of metal that vaguely resemble cars. What does a build look like for the average hot rodder? I mean, assuming that there is such a thing as an average hot rodder.

Have you ever built a hot rod? What got you to do it? What was harder than you expected, and what went smoothly? And how long did it take before you sold the thing and started a new project?
