According to an unauthorized biography, Jay-Z was prepared to put his name on a special-edition Jeep Commander. (The one that looks like a randy carton of Saltines mounting a box of Pop Tarts.) That is, until Chrysler execs got nervous.
In the book, "Empire State of Mind: How Jay-Z Went from Street Corner to Corner Office," Forbes magazine editor Zack O'Malley Greenburg recounts the tale of a cross-promotional deal that went bad when Chrysler executives got a glimpse of the rapper's rap sheet and got cold feet. He was once a bad boy. Whatcha gonna do?
As the New York Times points out, the Jay-Z edition Jeep Commander would have been painted in the rap-trepreneur's own shade of blue (blue-Jay-Z?), fitted with 22-inch chrome wheels and cream-colored leather interior. A digital entertainment system would have been preloaded the Swagga wagon for real with the entirety of Jay-Z's discography.
Obviously, Chrysler's now over its fear of rappers.
