Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. How many towns have three Willys Station Wagons parked on the street?
We've seen this '51 and this '56, and now we've got today's proto-SUV. I'm saying it's a 1952 model, but it could be a 1950, 1951, or 1953 as well; in fact, it could be years older or younger if it's had a junkyard grille swap. Anyway, it's a beautiful old survivor, at least a half-century in age, and that's what's important!
I've been admiring this truck for many years now, but prior to last week it had always lived in a driveway and was thus unqualified for Down On The Street honors. Now it appears that the owner has revived his or her classic Willys and is putting some street miles on it.
