$30,000 Dealer Markup On Camaro Z/28 Pushes Price To $106,165

The Camaro Z/28 is one of the greatest muscle cars that GM ever produced. It has a 7.0L V8 cranking out 505 hp and is equally capable on the drag-strip as well as a road course. It's so good that one LA car dealer thinks someone will pay $30,000 over sticker price.

According to Chevrolet's website the Camaro Z/28 has an MSRP of about $76,000, Felix Chevrolet, has a black over black example listed for $106,165.

Dealer markups on limited production cars are nothing new. When you talk about what something is "worth" the old adage is "It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it." When you consider that some people are willing to spend an extra 1.68 million on a 2 million dollar La Ferrari, it is all relative. In a market like Los Angeles, I'm sure there are plenty of wealthy buyers who have the means to drop a hundred-large on the most badass Camaro you can buy.

But you don't get rich by spending money you don't have to. A quick Autotrader search reveals another black over black Z/28 at Guaranty Chevrolet, just a 40 minute drive from Felix Chevy for $73,087... that is $3558 UNDER MSRP! Now the cheapest Z/28 is in Miami Florida at Lorenzo Bomnin Chevrolet, the white one with a a sale price of $66,999, almost 8 grand off sticker for limited edition car like that is a hell of a deal.

I understand the love for the Camaro, when I was 19 I wanted one more than anything else. What I can't understand is paying Porsche 911 money when you can have one for less than sticker.
