The Ducati Multistrada is one of the best sport touring bikes on the market, but it’s always made for a terrible adventure bike. At least until now. Meet the 2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
Despite looking like the normal Multistrada 1200 with a bigger front wheel and some knobbies on it, Ducati have actually made a number of changes to make the Multi Enduro a capable off roader. Here’s what you need to know.
- The 5.3 gallon tank from the road going models has been bumped up to 7.92 gallons.
- The front beak has been lengthened slightly to act as a more proper mud guard, and the front fender has been redesigned and repositioned.
- The bars are now higher and the seat now narrower at the front over the pegs to make riding while standing easier. Like many dual sports, the pegs now have a grippier design with removable rubber inserts.
- A center stand and luggage mounts are now included standard.
- The cast wheels have been swapped for wire units, and the front has been increased to a 19 inch rim.
- Suspension travel has been increased from 6.7 inches front and back to 7.9 inches
- The wheelbase grows from 60.2 inches to 61.3, with rake increasing from 24 to 25 degrees and trail growing by a millimeter.
- Wet weight grows from 518 pounds to 559 pounds.
- Enduro riding mode limits power to 100 horsepower and the suspension is “configured for rough terrain.” ABS is set to level one at the front, but turned off at the rear, and wheelie/rear wheel lift control are shut off.
- Pirelli Scorpion Trails are still standard, but Pirelli Scorpion Rallys are an option.
- Rear swingarm get’s beefed up, with a double sided unit over the road model’s single-sided swingarm.
- Ground clearance raised by just over an inch to 8.07 inches.
