While it's no longer the fastest street-drivable car around, the 1988 Callaway-tuned "Sledgehammer" Corvette is no less insane than it was a decade ago. Built in 1990 by the Connecticut-based performance-engineering firm famed for its Callaway twin-turbo Corvettes of the late 1980s, the Sledgehammer was a showcase of Callaway's speed-inducing expertise. The company reportedly only built one of the 800hp, 245mph beasts most likely to win a bet. The price, theoretical as it may be, was $400,000.
