Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. What are the odds that two '79 Corvettes would live a mere two blocks apart?

In Alameda, such things happen all the time! In addition to the two 1979 Corvettes, there's this '77 another block away.

The great thing about this car is that it's just about entirely original— no aftermarket wheels, no engine upgrades. Not only that, it's a factory 4-speed car.

Gorgeous. I used to work with a guy who's father bought him an old '80 model, also in black like this one. He supercharged it and had two Flowmasters on it. It was so loud that it set off car alarms and made baby's cry. Unfortunately, one of the front calipers seized when he was going around a corner and sent the car into a divider. The really shocking thing was that a few weeks later, his dad bought him another black 1980 Corvette that looked almost identical. I think he even scavenged the supercharger and Flowmasters from the wreck. Lucky rich boy.
