Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. Here's one of the nicest street-driven 280Zs I've seen in a while.

Parked just around the corner from the Deadhead '59 Mercedes-Benz 220S convertible and the gas-sipping CRX HF, this Z just showed up in the neighborhood recently.

God I've wanted one of these since I was a little boy. They're just sleek in a way that modern cars have trouble pulling off. For a Japanese car, especially one from the 70's, it gives off a surprisingly British ambiance.

I think if I had one, I'd have it in pearl blue with the conical headlight caps and leave the rear windshield as it is (what's with those weird venetian blind things...?) and play up the graceful design.

I'd also probably toy with the motor a bit, to give a little extra Zooooom. =)
