Hyundai just unveiled the 2026 Ioniq 9 at an iconic Hollywood Hills mansion ahead of its public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. The three-row electric SUV boasts a seriously aerodynamic design that still allows for a hugely spacious interior, and there are a lot of cool details inside and out that sets the Ioniq 9 apart from other big crossovers. I got to check out a top-of-the-line Ioniq 9 Calligraphy at a studio a few weeks ago and captured all of the best bits for you, our dear Jalops. Click through this slideshow to see the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 from every angle. (Please ignore what seem like dead pixels in the car’s lights, that’s the fault of my phone, not the car!)
Check Out The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 From Every Angle
This three-row SUV has over 300 miles of range in every trim and a funky aero-forward design
Hello!
I think the Ioniq 9 has such a cute face. It’s so happy to see me!
Aerosthetic
Hyundai says the Ioniq 9 has an “aerosthetic” design, which is a fun invented word. The U.S.-spec Ioniq 9 has a super slippery drag coefficient of just 0.269, versus 0.33 for the similarly sized Palisade. Every version of the Ioniq 9 will have a range of over 300 miles, even the 422-hp dual-motor Performance model.
Sleek And Spacious
It’s a big larger than its Kia EV9 sibling, and the Ioniq 9 has the most interior space and cargo room in its class despite the sloping roof.
Nice Butt
The rear end is my favorite part of the Ioniq 9's design. I can’t wait to see these at night.
So. Many. Pixels.
Apparently there are 302 pixels on the Ioniq 9's exterior, not including the ones behind that translucent black panel in the front bumper.
Is That Fender Flared Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?
On non-Calligraphy models the fender surrounds are finished in black, though that eyebrow at the top will always be body color. It gives the illusion of a squared-off wheel arch and more width while preserving the aerodynamics. Hyundai says as they’re made from plastic and are separate pieces from the body, they can be swapped out to allow for bigger wheels or wider flares in the future.
Hanbok Line
This bit of surfacing that slashes across the rear haunch is inspired by the collars of traditional Korean dresses, and it appears to make the car a lot wider than it actually is.
Atypical Glass
The Ioniq 9's windshield is set further forward and has a much steeper rake than most SUVs, made possible by the electric platform. The side glass is nice and flush, too.
Boat Tail
A big part of the Ioniq 9's aerodynamic prowess is its rear end. I love how the rear glass tapers in at the top, with the taillight bar forming a spoiler and hiding the rear wiper underneath, and the way the side window trim forms the design of the roof rails is really wonderful.
Do You See A Sofa?
Hyundai says the Ioniq 9's dashboard design was inspired by fancy sofas. I can kinda see it.
Ellipses
The interior has an ellipse design theme, which is especially noticeable in the door panels. The perforated surfaces look really cool.
Total Relaxation
Both the front and second rows of seats can be had with Hyundai’s Relaxation Seats that can recline really far back and have integrated legrests. You can even create a makeshift lounge chair by removing the front seats’ headrests. A three-across second-row bench is also available.
Junk In The Trunk
With the third row of seats up the Ioniq 9 has 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space, and folding the third row increases that to 46.7 cubic feet. Both of those rows fold totally flat and can be controlled electronically.
Real Controls!
Hyundai promises it will keep physical buttons, knobs and switches alive for frequently used things like climate and audio controls.
Universal Island
The center console can be slid back up to 7.5 inches for easier access by second-row passengers, with a split-opening lid for the massive storage cubby inside. It also has integrated cupholders, climate controls, a wireless charging pad and an additional slide-out cubby.
Curvy
The nice curved screen combines a 12-inch gauge cluster and 12-inch central touchscreen, and the ambient lighting and dashboard trim really help class up the joint.
