Jeep FC-150, Chevrolet SSR, BMW E30 M3: The Dopest Trucks I Found For Sale Online

If there’s anything cooler than a regular Citroën 2CV, it has to be the 2CV’s commercial vehicle form. I mean, you get a quirky French car with a box on the back to haul stuff!

Citroën originally released a panel van-type 2CV in 1951, and as Citroënët notes, it quickly become the choice of small business despite its 27 mph top speed and 551-lb payload.

Thankfully, this AK 400 is a later model featuring some improvements to the concept. Under the hood is a 602cc boxer twin producing about 29 ponies. That’s apparently good for 60 mph, which means that this simple little French cargo van is actually somewhat usable on American roads. This AK model also enjoys a higher roof for more practicality.

This one looks clean inside and out. I mean, check out that engine bay! It’s $17,000 on Facebook Marketplace in Barrington, Illinois.

Released towards the end of the roaring 1920s, the Model A was Ford’s follow-up to the smash-hit Model T. This new vehicle was an evolution in many ways. Gone was the awkward way to drive the Model T. In its place are more conventional controls that should seem more familiar to a driver today.

The Model A also features a fuel gauge, and gasoline is fed into the carburetor via gravity. You can learn more about how this works by watching a recent entry of Vice Grip Garage, where a really worn out Model A gets taken on a 700-mile road trip.

This seller was selling both Model As but now just has the green Model A Fordor. It has a body by Murray and is said to be completely stock, but with new parts. Power comes from a 3.3-liter L-head inline four making 40 HP.

It’s $11,000 on Facebook Marketplace in Monticello, Iowa.

I love hot hatches, and I tend to feature them quite a lot. That’s why I’m surprised that I haven’t featured many Minis. Check this out, this little Mini Cooper John Cooper works features a 1.6-liter turbo four with the power cranked up to 208-HP and 192 lb-ft torque delivered to the front wheels through a manual transmission.

That’s more than a healthy boost over the 118 HP and 114 lb-ft that you get with the base Mini of the same year.

You also get to sit in an interior that I think has aged very well over the years. That central speedometer seems ahead of its time when you think about it.

It’s $6,777 on CarFax in Los Angeles, California with 131,000 miles.

Back to our truck theme, here’s a classic pickup devoid of all of that characteristic rust often seen peppering vehicles in the Midwest. Take a stroll through the pictures on this one, and you’ll see floors so clean that they’re still green.

This is a sixth-generation F-150, the truck that in 1977 became the best selling truck in America. Ford has retained the podium position ever since. And it’s easy to see why. This is a truck that looks beautiful on a farm or in a city, yet it has the brawn to work.

Under the hood of this one is a chunky 7.0-liter V8 paired to a manual transmission from a seventh-generation F-350. It’s unclear how much power is being made here, but it’s all supported by a fresh suspension, including a lift kit. It’s $15,000 on Facebook Marketplace in Juneau, Wisconsin.

When the Honda VTX1800 hit the scene in 2001, it was the largest displacement motorcycle on sale. Its lumpy 1.8-liter V-twin made 106 HP and was Honda’s answer to complaints about its underpowered cruisers of the past.

This is a fast cruiser but also a comfortable one. Riders over the years have attested to the VTX1800's ability to effortlessly eat miles and miles of American highway.

It’s $3,500 on Facebook Marketplace in Woonsocket, Rhode Island with 17,500 miles.

Retro-modern cars took the United States by storm in the early 2000s. Cars like the Chrysler PT Cruiser and Plymouth Prowler were generating headlines and were joined by the likes of the Volkswagen New Beetle and the Ford Thunderbird. General Motors didn’t want to lose out on the trend and put some of its own takes on the formula. The Chevrolet HHR hit the road as the General’s take on the PT. But sometimes forgotten is the other retro vehicle to be released by Chevy. Meet the SSR.

If you squint, you can see this truck’s design inspiration, Chevrolet’s 1947–1955 Advance Design pickups.

The name means Super Sport Roadster and man, this thing is strange. Under the hood is a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 from a Corvette making 390 HP. That drives the rear wheels. Perhaps the strangest part is the fact that it rides on the GMT368 platform. That makes it a sibling of the old Chevy Trailblazer and GMC Envoy.

Back in February, David Tracy invited me to his house, where I had to wait for a bottle of water retrieved from a truck bed to melt. He also infected me with the Jeep bug, specifically for clean XJs and the mighty FC. Thankfully, I haven’t acted on my newfound urges yet, but Marketplace is testing my resolve.

I climbed into his cute but sketchy FC-150, and it was just pure love. The tall seating position, no hood, and wide visibility made me feel like I was in command of my bus, but this was a small pickup truck! And the wheel was more like a tiller. Alright Mr. Tracy, you reeled me in.

Marketplace has given me my first tease of Jeep goodness, and it’s this 1962 FC-150. Now, the asking price for this one is several times what David paid for either of his, but this one isn’t stolen and it doesn’t have a body of swiss cheese and moss. Look how clean those floors are! The seller says that it came from Tennessee and you get a power dump bed and what looks like a nice Hurricane F4-134 inline four.

It’s $18,000 on Facebook Marketplace in Carpentersville, Illinois. I wonder if I can expense something like this...

If military chic is your style but you don’t want to copy your neighbor in getting a retired HMMWV, Toyota has just the treat for you. The Toyota Mega Cruiser is the largest 4x4 put into production by the automaker and pictures don’t quite illustrate the scale.

It’s a smidge over 17 inches longer than a HMMWV while maintaining about the same width. And while the Humvee may clock in at 5,200 pounds, this tips the scales at 6,300 pounds.

The BMW E30 M3 is a car coveted by German car enthusiasts so much that people are actually willing to pay six figures for them. Why? I’ll let our Raphael Orlove take it away:

For those of you not familiar with the BMW E30 M3, it was a track-tuned homologation special aimed at Germany’s touring car series of the day, with a high-strung naturally-aspirated four cylinder engine. It even had a slightly different rear window treatment for better aerodynamics. It would be like if Chevrolet sold a street-legal version of Dale Earnhardt’s Winston Cup Monte Carlo SS.

This one is still incredibly expensive, at least relative to my own bank account. But with the price you get a rebuilt engine, H&R springs and Bilstein shocks. Oh and if you aren’t a fan of those wheels you do get the originals.

Power comes from a 2.3-liter four making 195 HP. It’s $79,000 on Hemmings in Houston, Texas with 96,000 miles.
