At some point or another, we all need to go shopping for a car. New or used, it doesn’t matter because you always need to keep your wits about you when making a big purchase like that. What are some red flags to look out for when buying a car?

In the spirit of buying cars and red flags, I went directly to resident Jalopnik red flag expert, David Tracy. David sent me a photo of his beloved 1995 Jeep Cherokee. Below is a screenshot of the ensuing conversation.

Any one of those things would be a big, fat, red flag. A lack of floors in the front would have me hightail it away from the seller immediately. But all of them combined into one vehicle? That basically screams at you to back away slowly without making any sudden movements and avoiding all eye contact.
