An Amtrak train carrying Republican members of Congress to a retreat in West Virginia reportedly struck a dump truck Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
There were conflicting reports about whether any injuries were reported on board. A reporter from MSNBC said the Amtrak train was chartered just for GOP lawmakers, staff and families who were heading to the retreat and included no one from the public. But a local NBC station reported there’s at least one fatality.
The status of the driver couldn’t be immediately determined, reports Politico, but it was believed they weren’t injured.
The accident comes just over a month after an Amtrak train derailed onto a highway in Washington, leaving 3 people dead and several injured.

Update (12:15 p.m.): Amtrak sent along the following statement:
An Amtrak train came into contact with a vehicle that was on the tracks at 11:20 a.m. in Crozet, Va. There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members. Local law enforcement is investigating the incident and crews are inspecting equipment for damage. The train originated in Washington, D.C. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
