Apparently the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is great for testing cars before they’re released, because our reader inconsistentlybad saw a whole murder of exciting cars full of testing equipment on that road. And, even better, he took a lot of very high-res pictures.
Perhaps most interesting is this Audi R8 e-Tron, a plug-in hybrid version of the R8 that we’re not going to be getting stateside. So, if you’re an American nursing a fetish involving Audi R8s plugged into things, you should really savor this image, since you won’t be seeing it here:
There’s also other interesting e-Tron-mobiles being e-tested, like this Chinese-market A6L 40 e-Tron:
If all that’s not enough, he also saw a trio of Ferrari F12s zoom by, also laden with what looks like emissions-testing equipment:
Thanks to inconsistentlybad’s keen eyes, I learned something else: see those red-lettered license plates on those Ferraris? They’re German, and they start with the number 06, which is reserved for vehicle testing use. I had no idea!
That’s a hell of a lot of good stuff to see on one little drive through the Alps.
