Do you remember the Zenvo ST1, Denmark’s 1,100 horsepower supercar? There’s a new version called the TS1 with a 5.9-liter V8 and two superchargers, instead the previous version, which had a turbo and a supercharger attached to a 6.8-liter V8. And the TS1 can even be a track car, maybe.
When I asked them last year at the Geneva Motor Show, Zenvo told me they built five cars so far with enough parts at the factory to build another three quickly if needed. This year, they say the ST1 is “sold out” after just 12 units made.
So, it’s time for you to meet the new TS1. Its in-house developed flat plane crank 5.9-liter V8 with that pair of centrifugal superchargers produces well over a thousand horsepower. But that’s a given knowing Zenvo.
Also new are the improved aero with the integrated rear wing for more downforce and about 30 percent more cooling, a choice of two Italian-made automatic gearboxes and the complete interior.
Exact performance figures are not available since this is an ongoing development, but having over a thousand horsepower in a rear-wheel drive car is always entertaining, one way or another.
I know Zenvo’s track record is not without flaws, but to be fair to the Scandinavians, development cars blowing fuel lines at speed and turning into fireballs is nothing new, and the whole Top Gear drama wasn’t really the car’s fault.
Since they are aiming for a niche of a niche, Zenvo also made a TSR prototype just to see if this would be something their potential costumers want. It’s lighter, it’s faster, and it doesn’t comply with any FIA rules, although you do get a full on roll cage and electric cutout, just in case you find yourself on a track with P1 GTRs and LaFerrari FXX Ks in Abu Dhabi.
I mean, if you have millions to spend on a car, you might as well just get a Zenvo. Everybody loves a Danish.
