The Aston Martin DB9 wasn’t ever as fast as the rest of the field, yet it somehow managed to keep being the coolest gran tourer for more than a decade. XCAR demonstrates what the AMG-powered DB11 will have to top.
In true British fashion, the Aston Martin DB9 has been in production since forever. 2004 to be exact, and they will keep at it until next year. But that’s good news, actually.
After the DB7, they skipped the DB8 name simply because this car packs a 6.0 V12 instead of a V8 like the smaller Vantage, and in its latest tune, the DB9 GT’s sends 540 horsepower and 457 pound foot of torque to the rear wheels.
The seating position might be awkwardly high with poor visibility all around despite that, but nobody cares simply because Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker created the most beautiful lines in the business, the V12 makes the best noise money can buy and the cabin makes you feel special even if the gearbox is a bit rubbish.
It’s something else.
