As has been expected all week, Porsche CEO Matthias Müller will take the top spot at Volkswagen, replacing Martin Winterkorn amid the diesel emissions cheating scandal, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Winterkorn resigned yesterday amid the company’s admission that their diesel engines cheated emissions regulations on 11 million cars worldwide. When news of his resignation (or firing) started circulating early this week, Müller was immediately cited as a possible replacement. Müller has been CEO of Porsche since 2010.

Expect the news to become official tomorrow at Volkswagen’s board meeting, where more heads — including those from other VW Group brands — are said to be rolling.
