At every major auto show, fancy concept cars are shown on fancy displays, next to fancy booth professionals, covered in fancy lighting. Sometimes they’re a look into the cars of tomorrow, but sometimes — sadly — they’re just eye candy.
Right now with the Frankfurt Motor Show happening, we’ve already seen several concepts that we would love to see get the green-light and head for production. The Audi E-Tron Quattro concept, which is basically a Q7-esque electric crossover to fight Tesla’s Model X, and Bugatti’s Vision Gran Turismo concept which pretty much looks like an over-designed Veyron. And let’s not forget Porsche’s Mission E concept, the car that could very well determine the future of sports cars as we know it.
I often think back to the Ford GT90 concept, the Ford GT of the 90s that never actually saw production. With a planned 720 HP delivered from a quad-turbocharged V12 motor, this car could’ve been the batshit GT40 successor that never was. Not to say that the Ford GT wasn’t batshit. It just wasn’t this level of quad-turbocharged batshit.
But it doesn’t matter, because it didn’t happen. And there are tons of other concept cars that have been left in the dark, just like the Ford GT90. So what concept car do you wish saw production?
