The inline six engine, smooth, powerful, wonderfully sonic, is one of the most cherished features of all kinds of foreign cars. Skyline GT-Rs, BMWs, even some old Astons are beloved for the use of I6s. But who says you need a foreign car for a great straight six?

Here’s a Studebaker drag car running a GM Vortec 4200 inline six. Big, stout, and (in this car) very turbocharged. Some people even swap these things into Supras, which might well be the most famous straight six-powered car in the import market.

Maybe your next great straight six build will start under the hood of junked Trailblazer. Hell, if this engine is good enough for Jalopnik alumnus Murilee Martin, it’s probably good enough for you.
