Constant video surveillance of our lives is an often disturbing concept, but occasionally it brings some really dramatic footage, like this one of a Toronto man flying his car through the air and crashing into a building. The man received serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

The wreck happened Sunday, at about 11:30 am, when the man drove off a ledge from the neighboring gas station, sending the Subaru soaring across the parking lot and into the building, which, perhaps conveniently, is an auto repair shop. It’s not yet clear exactly why this happened, though police are currently working with the theory that the man confused the accelerator and brake pedals.

I suppose the one upside to all this is that the stills from the surveillance footage do look like we have actual hovercars, which, of course, would be a blast:
