When you think of the car most closely associated with James Bond, you think of chic metropolitan locales, like London, or Rome, or... Alabama.
You read that right. According to Autocar, Aston Martin is responding to increasing demand from American consumers with a stateside factory. CEO Andy Martin told reporters at the Britcar 24 Hour Race, “It is not decided yet but clearly with our arrangement with Daimler it would make sense to look closely at the possible synergies of working close to them in Alabama.”
Mercedes has a factory in Tuscaloosa, so logistically it does indeed make sense for Aston Martin to be nearby. But from an aesthetic perspective, it’s certainly a strange choice for a brand more associated with Savile Row than roll tide.
