This weekend we're releasing a 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited to its natural habitat, Vermont, to get the last scraps of the ski season. That should give us an opportunity to suss it out on highways, country roads, and figure out whatever "X-Mode" does. So what do you want to know about it?

This particular car starts at $30,295 and comes with and ships pretty basically equipped. A $3,000 "Option Package 23" includes a power moonroof, navigation, smart key, and an advanced cruise control setup with lane-keeping warnings.

And yes, it's got a continuously-variable transmission.

Fuel economy claims are 25 MPG city, 33 highway. We'll see how far we can stretch that soon.

My initial impressions after a quick 20-mile run around the block; it feels solid, a little slow, and the infotainment setup loads extremely quickly. The interior is pretty sterile, but the Harmon/Kardon audio system is incredible.

The Outback does a great job getting away with unpainted plastic on its bumpers... somehow the look works for this thing. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted.
