The Porsche Cayman GT4 comes with what appears to be an additional foot pedal next to the ordinary gas and brake pedals. Not only that, there's sort of strange lever rising out between the seats. What are these mysterious features? Automotive journalist Chris Harris got to the bottom of the matter.
Andreas Preuninger is the lead engineer on Porsche's GT cars (such as the 911 GT3 and this Cayman GT4) and he helpfully explained, "Oh! That's just a footrest." He continued, saying that the strange lever is in fact "a joystick."
Sounds about right to me.
