Ed Sheeran Crashes Off Top Gear Track During First Time Driving, Ever

We can't all be astronauts, and not all stars who go on Top Gear can be aces behind the wheel of the reasonably priced car. English singer Ed Sheeran may have just had the worst showing ever on the segment after crashing the red Vauxhall Astra, but I think he has a legitimate excuse.

Sheeran is the guest on the premiere episode of Top Gear's new season this Sunday, and like all guests was invited to drive the reasonably-priced Vauxhall around their track after some coaching from the Stig.

Problem is, Sheeran had never even driven a car before that segment, the BBC reports. He doesn't have a driver's license. So I think that explains why he went off the course.

Sheeran is okay, and from the pictures on the BBC's website it's not clear if he collided with anything or just veered off track and couldn't recover. (They call it a crash, I'm not so sure I agree, but we haven't seen the video yet.)

Either way, I think you get something of a pass if this happens on a track during your first time driving a car, ever.

Let's hope he comes back in a couple seasons and has a better showing. Welcome to the exciting world of car-driving, Ed!
