Do You Love A Carmaker?

There are many cars that I adore — the Maserati Khamsin, for instance, fills my heart with joy every time I think about it and its asymmetrical hood vents. But I'm not sure I actually love any car company or brand.

I can sort of understand how you would love a small firm like, say, Autodelta in the 1960s and '70s, a collection of Italians hand-building some of the most desirable racing cars ever made. I can sort of understand how you might appreciate the gambling spirit of Citroën's early years. I can see how a string of great cars and an enigmatic figurehead could inspire some sort of devotion, like you get with Honda. I might even say I have some feelings of love to the ever-plucky Mazda. It's like they build cars just for me. They often flirt with bankruptcy for it, but that's just a mark of their dedication, right?

What carmaker, if any, do you really adore? What inspires the devotion?
